There are several characters involved who want to educate the the poor baby elephant who never seem to listen. In the end the baby elephant learns a valuble lesson and gains a wonderful tool. How the elephant got its trunk is adapted from a story by British Nobel laureate Rudyard Kipling. Kipling was born in India and spent the first six years of his childhood there. After about ten years in England, he went back to India and worked there for about six-and-half years. These stories were written when Kipling lived in Vermont, USA.
